This project is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Lottery Fund and is produced in conjunction with the Yorkshire Malaya and Borneo Veterans Association, whose members served in the Malayan Emergency, the Brunei Rebellion and the Borneo Confrontation during the 1950's and 60's.
Many of the men who served in these conflicts were young men called up to National Service. After only 6 weeks basic training, they were taken from their normal lives and plunged straight into the brutal reality of jungle warfare against the guerilla tactics of communist terrorists.
The Aims of this project are to document and preserve the memories and personal accounts of servicemen involved in the conflicts of Malaya and Borneo for future generations and to educate the public about the often forgotten wars.
Please ensure you revisit our site often as more veterans stories and pictures will be published in the near future, thank you for your interest.
